Clyde Edwards, Jr., age 84, of Stone Mountain died Tuesday, June 24, 2008. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea serving in the U. S. Army's 3rd Division. He received the Bronze Star and retired from the Army after 25years of service as a Lt. Colonel. He retired from Amoco Oil Company after 35 years. Mr. Edwards was a 32nd degree Mason for over 50 years and a member of the Yaarab Shriners and Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the Shriner's Chanters. He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church for 47 years, the Seekers Sunday School Class and the Oak Grove Chancel Choir. He is survived by his wife, Millie Edwards; sons, Larry Edwards, Jeff Edwards and wife Jeanne; daughter, Sherry Hancock and husband John; brother, Don Edwards and wife Gini; granddaughters, Courtney Hancock, Laurie Simon and husband Tristan; grandsons, John and Joseph Hancock and Kyle and Derek Edwards; and great granddaughter, Cassidy Simon. Funeral services will be held at Oak Grove United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Friday, June 27th, Rev. Glenn Ethridge, and Dr. Dan Rice officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
