Clyde Wheeler Faulkner, Jr.

Clyde Wheeler Faulkner Jr. was born in Wake County, North Carolina, the only child of the Reverend Clyde Wheeler Faulkner Sr. and Hazel Wall Faulkner. He graduated from High Point College and the Duke University Divinity School, and received his PhD in Sociology from Emory University. He had a distinguished career as professor and administrator at Georgia State University, and retired as Dean Emeritus of the College of Arts and Sciences. Clyde was an avid Duke basketball fan, and enjoyed travel, golf, reading, fishing, dog-sitting, roller coasters with grandchildren, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends. Clyde is survived by his wife, Karla Winecoff Stein; his children, Michael Faulkner of Denver, Colorado, Lynne Faulkner Smith and her husband Ted Smith of Johns Creek, Georgia, Donna Stein Brat of Atlanta; honorary daughter, Sue Sweat of Atlanta; his grandchildren, Jason and Jordan Faulkner of Denver; Elise, Rachel and Michael Smith of Johns Creek, and his best friend, J. L. (Pete) Peterson. A service in celebration of Clyde's life will be held at A. S. Turner and Sons, 2773 N. Decatur Rd. Decatur, on Friday, April 15 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Helping Paws Rescue and Humane Society, P.O Box 701157, St. Cloud, FL 34772.
