Cora Christine Staton

Mrs. Christine Austin Staton, 100, Budd Terrace at Wesley Woods in Atlanta, died April 4, 2013. Christine was born October 26, 1912, in Marshville, North Carolina, daughter of the late Ennis and Cora Austin. She was a graduate of Brevard College, Brevard, North Carolina, retiree of the Atlanta School System, and a very active member of the former West End Baptist Church and Beecher Hills Baptist Church. Christine was a member of First Baptist Church of Decatur. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, who loved the Lord. Preceded in death by husband, James B. Staton, and son, Jay E. Staton., Mrs. Staton is survived by son, Dr. Jerry A. Staton (Gina); daughters, Betty S. Meek and Ellen Kaiser (Dan); grandchildren, Charles Staton (Mary Ann), Priscilla Janowski (Jayson), John Kaiser, and David Kaiser; and great-grandchildren, Matthew Staton and Austin Janowski. A funeral service to celebrate Christine's life will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013, in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons. Dr. William Neal III will officiate and burial will follow at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. prior to the service at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
