Coralee Courtenay Walker

Coralee Courtenay Walker, 80, passed away Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011. Coralee was born Dec. 24, 1930, in Atlanta, Ga., daughter of the late Cora Henderson and John Branham Courtenay. She was a 1947 graduate of Druid Hills High School and attended Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Va. She married her high school sweetheart, Ralph, at age 16 and they moved to Texas to begin his career at Convair and start their family. Coralee was a past president of the Fort Worth Children's Museum Guild and a self-employed antique dealer. She was a member of Ridglea Presbyterian Church and a former member of Ridglea Country Club. Coralee was very artistic and enjoyed painting in watercolors as well as crocheting and quilting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Ralph M. Walker Jr., and sister, Rose Evelyn Starnes. Survivors: Children, Libby Walker Anderson and husband, Roy; Ralph "Bo" M. Walker III and wife, Renee, Becky Walker Young and husband, Cameron, Stuart Courtenay Walker and wife, Sylvia; grandchildren, Ralph "Bubba" M. Walker IV, Matthew C. Walker, Christopher S. Walker, Cameron Young Jr., Courtenay Young, Roy "Andy" L. Anderson III, Emily Anderson; and great-grandchildren, Brennan Walker, Matthew C. Walker Jr. and Micah Walker. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. Additional services and interment will be in Decatur, Ga. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 2:00pm from the chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons, burial will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or a charity of choice.
