Cornell Shepard

Nell Cammack Shepard passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024 from an extend illness. She was born February 5, 1932 in Winnsboro, SC to Charles and Effie Cammack. She was raised in Macon, Georgia. Nell was proceeded in death by her parents, her sister Charlie Mae Knowles, and her husband, William E. (Bill) Shepard, Jr. She is survived by her son, Barry Shepard (Madelyn), brother Donald Cammack, grandchildren: Reverend Billy Shepard (SaraBeth), Katie Shepard, two great grandchildren: Beau and Cam, and Patti Shepard.

Nell and Bill relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in 1965 and then to the Tucker community in 1971. She worked as a banker for Decatur Federal Savings and Loan at the Embry Hills Branch for over twenty years. She was an active member of First Baptist Church Atlanta and had many dear Church family members.

The family would like to thank the Emory Hospital Staff for their care and support, as well as, her CaraVita Caregivers, especially Nikky, Ola, Harriet and Jasmine for their care during her illness.

There will be a visitation, Monday, July 15, 2024 at the A.S. Turner Funeral Home, 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, Georgia from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. A graveside service will be conducted, Tuesday, July 16, 2024, 1:00PM at the family burial plot located in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery, 4101 Mercer University Drive, Macon, Georgia. Reverend Billy Shepard and Reverend Wayne Heaton officiating.

Family members, neighbors, coworkers, church family and everyone who knew Nell felt they had a wonderful, thoughtful and caring friend. They were right. She will be missed.
