Mr. Dallas C. Porter, age 80, of Decatur Georgia died January 07, 2009. Dallas was known to family and friends as “Buddy”. Buddy was born on April 3, 1928 in Macon, Georgia. He served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Guam. After his return from his overseas tour of duty he joined Southern Bell. He retired as a Maintenance Engineer after 41 years of service. Buddy has been a member of Briarlake Baptist Church since 1970 and was a founding member of the Businessmen’s Bible Class. For many years Buddy could always be found ushering and greeting members at the early Sunday service. He was preceded in death by his wife Juanita and his son Clay Porter. He is survived by his sister Joyce Daniels of Chattanooga, TN; and his son, Jay Porter of Woodstock, Georgia; and seven grandchildren, Caroline, Jennifer, Joshua, Kelly, Matthew, Paige, and Savannah Porter. Buddy loved spending time at the lake and driving his red Mercedes convertible. He enjoyed telling stories and making people laugh. He will be missed. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 10th at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Minister Bill Long officiating. Interment, Crest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
