Dan B. Pattillo

November 23, 1928 — November 25, 2015

Daniel Brunella Pattillo, 87, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 25, 2015, at his home after a long illness. He was married to his loving wife, Anne Anthony Pattillo for 59 years. Dan was born on November 23, 1928 in Rockdale County, and graduated Lithonia High School in 1945. He received his degree from North Georgia College, after which he served two years as an army officer during the Korean War. Along with his father, H. A. Pattillo and his brother, H. G. Pattillo, Dan was a founding partner in Pattillo Construction Company in 1952. Through years of hard work and dedication, Pattillo Construction grew into one of the largest industrial real estate development companies in the Southeast. He became an active member of Decatur First United Methodist Church, where he served as Chairman of the Administrative Board and of the Board of Trustees. Dan was also dedicated to the community and education fields. He served as Chairman of the MARTA Board, overseeing the opening of both the East/West and North/South rail lines. He also served as Chairman of the Young Harris College Board, The North Georgia College Foundation, and Simpson Wood Methodist Center. He also served on the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Georgia, The Executive Board of the Atlanta Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and Wesley Woods. Perhaps his greatest joy came from his work with Honduras Outreach, where he was instrumental in the construction of a school, a clinic, and numerous infrastructure improvements. Dan is survived by his wife, Anne, and their two sons Daniel B. Pattillo, Jr. (Joan), and David A. Pattillo (Paige). He is also survived by his five grandchildren: Alex (Regina), Caroline, Rick, Laura, and John Pattillo. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 11:00 at Decatur United Methodist Church, with Dr. David Jones officiating. The family will greet friends, in the church fellowship hall after the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Decatur First UMC, 300 E. Ponce de Leon Avenue, Decatur, GA 30030 or Honduras Outreach 1990 Lakeside Parkway Suite 140, Tucker GA 30084.
