Dan Wellborn Edmondson

November 24, 1963 — January 29, 2016

Fort Worth -- Dan Wellborn Edmondson, 62, passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on January 29th. He was surrounded by family and caregivers in his final days after a long struggle he waged with stroke complications for more than a year.
Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Greenwood Chapel. Visitation: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Dawn Memorial Park 4685 Glenwood Road, Decatur, Ga. 30033 on Wednesday Feb. 3rd at 12:00 p.m.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Special Olympics Organization.
Dan was an amazing man. Shortly after his birth, he experienced brain trauma which left him mentally and physically challenged. He was not expected to live. Health care professionals counseled his family from the beginning to expect a short and limited life for Dan, but it seemed his life mission was to prove them wrong. He did so, living a full and productive life, while maintaining his kind and humble spirit. Dan's father and younger brothers prodded him from his youth to try all he could, and that he did. He enjoyed walks, swimming, bowling and cooking. The Special Olympics will miss a proud bowling participant and the Food Network (and specifically Rachel Ray) will surely miss its most avid viewer. An active member of the community, Dan enjoyed attending church and his various stints working in local thrift stores. At home, he liked to help out in the kitchen and in the garden. Dan lived in many places and traveled extensively. After growing up in Atlanta, GA, he lived in The Colony, TX, Seattle, WA, Conway, AR, and finally in Fort Worth, TX. His wonderful spirit, enormous selflessness and friendly smile will be sorely missed by his family, friends and admirers.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ted and Eloise Edmondson, and brother David Edmondson.
Survivors: His sister, Tera Acord; brother, Ted Edmondson, Jr.; niece, Stephanie Baldwin and family; nephew, Rex Moxley and family.
