Daniel Dionne

Daniel Edward Dionne, 57, formerly of Kankakee, Illinois, entered eternal life June 21, 2018, in Decatur, Georgia. He was born on September 19, 1960, the son of Thomas John Dionne and Patricia Mae(Barnes) Dionne, in Kankakee, Illinois, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were maternal grandparents Marcella and Edward Barnes and paternal grandparents Emory and Helen Dionne, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Dan was a 1978 graduate of Westview High School in Kankakee, Illinois and attended Eastern Illinois University.

Daniel was a very talented, self-employed interior designer and owner of “Daniel Dionne Designs, Inc.”
His clients and design projects spanned all across the country from north shores of Chicago to Southern
Florida. His award-winning designs earned him the prestigious “Best of Houzz Award” from
“Houzz.com”, a community of more than 40 million homeowners, interior designers and home
improvement professionals across the country and around the world. Prior to moving to the Atlanta
area, Dan lived in Chicago and was a very delightful and frequently-requested server for the “Lettuce
Entertain You Restaurant Group”, most notably at “Café Ba-Ba-Reeba”, Chicago, Illinois. Dan was also a
well-known server at the former Yesteryear Restaurant in Kankakee.

Daniel was an unconditional and generous person, who genuinely cared about everyone he met. He was
a beloved son, brother, partner and friend as well as a much-loved relative who will be deeply missed by
all who were fortunate enough to have known him. His smile and his laugh were infectious, always
complimenting and inspiring anyone who crossed his path in life. He was also an endlessly talented actor
starring in many musicals and plays and inspired audiences with his vocal talents. He loved the outdoors, gardening, and the beaches of the Yucatan including Isla Mujeres and Telchac Puerto.

He is survived by his life partner of 26 years, Joey Potter of Decatur, Georgia, four brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike
(Melanie) Dionne of Savannah, Georgia, Andrew (Carol) Dionne of Charlotte, North Carolina, Phillip
(Jeanette) Dionne of Milton, Florida and Stephen (Linda) Dionne of Denver, North Carolina, 6 nieces and
2 nephews. Also surviving are many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and hundreds of friends and
acquaintances from across the country who also mourn his passing.

A celebration of Daniel’s life will be held on July 14, 2018 at AS Turner and Sons in Decatur, Georgia. Visitation will
begin at 3:00 pm with a memorial service to follow at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to AIDAtlanta or your charity of choice in Danny’s honor.
