Daphne Fortner-Allen

Daphne McAllister Fortner-Allen passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2004. She was born on Apri1 30, 1910 in DeKalb County, Georgia, daughter of Pearl Lee Rice and Lewis Crawford McAllister. She was an active member of Briarcliff Baptist Church and a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class. She was a member of Faith Chapter #504 Order of the Eastern Star. She retired from Civil Service as Administrative Assistant, Special Services Division, Headquarters Third Army, Fort McPherson after 24 years of service. She is survived by two sisters, Pauline Pritchard of Atlanta, GA and Jewel McMullin of Stuart, Florida; daughter, Joanne Fortner Bennett of Decatur, GA; two sons, William H. Fortner, Jr. and wife Barbara of Kirkland, WA, Kenneth Wayne Fortner and wife Rosemary of Lilburn, GA; grandchildren, Dean Bennett, David Bennett, Mike Fortner, Karen Smith, Terri Fortner, Kenneth W. Fortner, Jr., Bobby Fortner and Linda Lemaster; great-grandchildren, Zackary Bennett, Nicole, Courtney, Landry and Taylor Smith, Will Fortner, Lauren Fortner, Michael, Kayleigh and Tyler Lemaster. Services will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Briarcliff Baptist Church. Rev. Bill Bigger and Dr. Glen Waldrop will officiate. Interment Melwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
