Darlene Delores Loebrick

February 5, 1932 — August 21, 2019

Darlene Delores (Reimers) Loebrick was the sixth child of William Martin and Ella Emilie (Scharf) Reimers. She was born on a farm in Rosehill Township, Bordulac, North Dakota on February 5, 1932. Darlene shared her birthday with her older sister Elaine, who was born in 1925.

Darlene was baptized on August 13, 1933 at St. John’s Lutheran Church and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wimbledon ND on December 15, 1946. She attended the rural schools of Barnes County and Courtenay High School where she graduated, May 1949. After attending Valley City State Teachers College, she started her teaching career in a one-room school in Rose Township 1950. Later she graduated from the University of North Dakota, receiving her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees. She retired from teaching in May 1993.

In June of 1960 she married Sgt. Dahlas E. Loebrick of Leonard ND, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wimbledon. Darlene and Dahlas were parents to MeloDee French and Ronda Wynne of Tucker, GA.

After surviving the 1997 flood in Grand Forks, Darlene moved to the Atlanta GA area to be near her daughters and grandchildren. She continued to share the love of education and reading with all those who entered her life, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents William and Ella Reimers, her sister Elaine Fluetsch, her brothers Laurence, Henry, William and Floyd Reimers, sister-in-law Joanne Reimers, and one niece Gwen Reimers. Darlene is survived by her daughter MeloDee French, daughter Ronda (Maj. Matthew) Wynne, grandchildren Kalla (William Hunter) Leming, Greer French, 1LT Bryce French and Emily Wynne, one great-granddaughter Amelia Leming, sisters-in-law Viola Reimers, Ruby Reimers and Elaine Reimers, and many nieces and nephews. A family service was held in Georgia, with a memorial service and burial to follow later in North Dakota.
