Mr. David Arnold Barrett, 39, of Atlanta died Sunday, July 5, 2009. He attended Henderson High School and graduated from Riverside Military Academy. Mr. Barrett served in the U. S. Army, 10th Mountain Division, during Desert Storm and he also saw action in Somalia and Haiti. He was a member of Briarcliff United Methodist Church. With an adventuresome spirit, David enjoyed sports, soccer, football, cycling and any adventures involving rappelling, bungee jumping, and hiking. He loved his family and friends. He served his country with courage and pride and would have served again at a moment’s notice. Mr. Barrett had a passion and a God-given talent for woodworking and making furniture. He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Eugene Barrett. He is survived by his mother, Jackie Barrett; sister, Brenda Barrett, both of Atlanta; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at A. S. Turner & Sons. Wednesday, July 8, 2009 the family will receive friends from 10:00 A. M. to 11:00 A.M. at Briarcliff United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Sondra Jones officiating. Interment will be at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
