Espy, David

David Espy, 56, of Riverdale, GA passed away on November 5, 2004 after a long, courageous battle with diabetic complications. Born in Rome, GA on March 12, 1948 to Benjamin and Virginia Espy, Mr. Espy moved with his family to Atlanta in the early 1960s where he had lived ever since. Mr. Espy enjoyed a 25-plus-year career in sales with PYA Monarch Food Service (now U.S. Food Service). In his spare time, he greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and supporting his children's youth sports teams and activities, as evidenced by becoming known as-and called-"The Coach" for most of his adult life. Above all, David Espy will be remembered as a loving husband and father, and a compassionate friend. Survivors include his wife of four years, Diane Espy; former wife, Pearl Espy; four children, Jeff Espy, Gina Hanson, Neal Scott and Kelly Murphy; and eight grandchildren, all of whom were the center of his life. A visitation ceremony will be held Sunday, November 7, 2004 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home in Decatur, GA. A celebration of Mr. Espy's life will be held Monday, November 8, 2004 at 12:00 p.m. at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home in Decatur, GA, and followed that same day by a 3:00 p.m. interment in Rome, GA at Oak Knolls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made on Mr. Espy's behalf to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org). A. S. Turner & Sons
