David Rosenzweig died peacefully in his home in Decatur, GA on May 19th, 2022 at the age of 82. David was born in Brooklyn, NY and spent his early childhood living near Ebbets Field. His first memories as a sports fan were made watching the Brooklyn Dodgers. Around age 5, he moved to White Plains, NY, where in junior high he met his future wife of over 58 years, Diane. After graduating from White Plains High School and earning undergraduate and master’s degrees at Cornell University College of Engineering, he began an almost 40 year career in electrical engineering, significantly contributing to the field on projects including the Hubble Space Telescope and the Space Shuttle Program. Throughout his life he was a staunch supporter of equal rights, civil rights, and racial justice. David enjoyed watching college sports (especially the Michigan Wolverines), coaching little league, the Jets, the Mets, photography, tennis, golf, bridge, technology gadgets, sandwiches, and buying sneakers. Though his food tastes and fashion sense were sometimes questionable, David was above all else a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
David is survived by his wife Diane, his two children, Darlene and Robert, and his grandsons, Joshua and Patrick. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the City of Decatur Library.
