Celebration of Life for David Troy Spencer
If there was anyone dancing on their way to heaven, it was our David. On Friday, December 13, 2024, David Troy Spencer passed away surrounded by his family. He was born in Decatur, Georgia and spent most of his childhood and teenage years in Stone Mountain, Georgia where he graduated from Redan High School in 1982. His vivacious personality shined as he was the life of the party and wouldn't pass an opportunity to make a sarcastic remark. Cheerleading, gymnastics, swimming, diving, and dance were a few of his favorite things. His passion for the arts, which flourished in church productions, neighborhood plays, and musicals at the local college, brought him to Fred Astaire Studio. There he pursued a life of performance. Through teaching dance, David had the opportunity to spread joy and happiness wherever he went and to whomever he came across. He truly loved his students and his profession. When he was not dancing, you could find him traveling, going to the beach or riding roller coasters.
Those who love and cherish his memory include Mother Cheri L. Frain, Brother Jason Spencer, Sisters Natalie Flanagan, Pamela Frain, and Dawn Cushing (John). Nephews Nicholas Cushing, Dillan Flanagan, Niece Lauren Cushing and John Reynolds. Last but not least, Coco Chanel, his faithful companion.
David's celebration service will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. with the celebration service following at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home. Following the service, David will be laid to rest at the College Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to the Cancer Society donate.cancer.org.
