David William Dunaphant

March 26, 1925 — January 29, 2005

Mr. David William Dunaphant, Sr. of DeKalb County, Atlanta, Georgia died Saturday, January 29, 2005. He is survived by his wife Haviland McDaniel Dunaphant; son, David William Dunaphant, Jr. of Boca Raton, FL; daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Davis of Duluth, GA and Miss Cynthia Dunaphant of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren,  Jerry Davis, Jr. of Winder, GA and Shawn Davis of Duluth, GA; great granddaughter, Nicole Davis of Dacula, GA; and a niece and two nephews.  Mr. Dunaphant was born March 26, 1925 in DeKalb County, Atlanta, GA, the son of the late Fred Matthew Dunaphant and the late Rillie Stephenson Dunaphant. He attended Druid Hills High School and graduated from Riverside Military Academy. During World War II, he served with the 84th Infantry Division in the Battle of the Bulge in Germany.  He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1950 where he was a member of the Delta chapter of Sigma Chi fraternity.  He joined his parents in the Southern Construction Company of Atlanta, GA acting as contractor and manager for many years. Mr. Dunaphant was a member of Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church in Atlanta and active in the Druid Hills Lions Club. Memorial services will be held Sunday, February 6, 2005 in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home at 3 p.m. with visitation from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and after the service. The Rev. Dr. Larry Bauman and Ms. Mary Ann Gantt Carter will officiate. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church, 1660 North Decatur Rd., N.E., Atlanta, GA 30307 or Alzheimer's Association, 225 North Michigan Ave., 17th Floor, Chicago, IL 60601-7633.
