Dr. Densford H. Cartledge, born in Pensacola, Fla., March 13, 1933, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 14, 2013, after a brave battle with lung cancer. He attended University of Georgia and Emory University and was a graduate of Emory University School of Dentistry. After graduation from dental school he served as a dentist in the U.S. army. Upon retiring from service after two years as a captain, he opened his private dental practice. He had very high standards in his work and always strived to take excellent care of his patients. He is survived by his loving wife Carol of 57 years, son Denny Cartledge and wife Andrea, his daughter Tracy Cartledge, his grandson Allan Cartledge and wife Alison. He was preceeded in death by his parents Luther Aldean Cartledge and Bonnie Dillingham Cartledge Toister and his brother Dr. Norman Cartledge.
Dr. Cartledge was a member of the Sentimental Journey Orchestra where he played trumpet for 25 years. He had many interests, including music, history, travel, nature, tennis and other sports and was an avid fan of UGA football and the Atlanta Falcons. He loved animals, especially dogs. He was a very kind, gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A procession to Floral Hills Memory Gardens will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memory donations be made to Peachtree Christian Hospice, 3430 Duluth Park Lane, Duluth, GA 30096. A.S.
