Diane Jones Amis, 71, a longtime resident of Decatur passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 13th, at Emory University Hospital. Diane was born on Sept. 18, 1942 in Roanoke, Virginia. She attended Murphy High School (Atlanta) and spent most of her professional life at two of Atlanta's best-known companies, Turner Broadcasting and Coca-Cola. She also worked for a time at the Georgia governor's office. Diane was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Atlanta, and loved to sing in the choir. Diane is lovingly remembered by all who knew her as a stylish, elegant woman, a perennial life of the party. Her infectious laughter, superb wit and vitality earned her many admirers and loyal friends. As an avid gardener, her home was always filled with fresh flowers; celebrating holidays were her specialty, always delighting her family with her sense of decorating. She is survived by daughter Ellen and son-in-law Carl Stilwell; son Robert and daughter-in-law Sandi; grandchildren Cassidy, Cody, Zoey, and Shelby; former husband and life long friend Bill Amis, Jr.; her sister Jean Dorminy; and niece Susan Unruh, nephew Brantley Smith, and their families. A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 13th at Decatur First United Methodist Church at 3:00pm. A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
