A beloved father, Donald Lafayette Browning, Jr., died on May 17, 2005 due to complications from a head injury. Although never given advantages in early life, Mr. Browning was rich with the love and respect of his family and friends earned through hard work, honesty and love of God. Born on January 27, 1916 to Donald L. and Virgie Green Browning in Knoxville, TN, he was known for his keen sense of humor. He often laughed that he was drafted in 1941 into the army, spent four years in the Army Air Corp. and never went through basic training for either. Married for 58 years, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Alice Virginia Jones Browning. Retired from Haverty's Furniture Company, he is survived by daughters, Donna L. Browning and Alice Kay Browning; sons: Donald L, David W. and Robert L. Browning; sister-in-law, Della Jones of Knoxville; nieces and nephews; and special daughter and son, Sara and Joe Williamson. He and the twinkle in his blue eyes will be greatly missed. A graveside service, arranged by A.S. Turner & Sons, of Decatur, is planned for Friday, May 20 at 11:00 A.M. at Westview Cemetery.
