Donald Edward Gaston Sr., age 76, passed away on June 4, 2012. He was born in Atlanta, Ga. to the late Emma Medley Gaston and Samuel Brittian Gaston. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his two brothers and sister in law, William J.(wife Nancy) and Charles B. Gaston. Don is survived by wife Martha Sisson Gaston to whom he was married for fifty six years; their four children, Donald E. Gaston, Jr. (wife Susan) of Clark, New Jersey, James R. Gaston (wife Carole) of Roswell, Georgia, Lawrence W. Gaston of Newport News, Virginia and Lynn Gaston Smith (husband Steve) of Springfield, Virginia, ten grandchildren, one great grandchild; a sister-in- law, Coralyn Gaston, of Waycross, Georgia., brother-in- law David Sisson, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Don graduated from Druid Hills High, attended Ga. Tech and graduated from Georgia State University with a BBA in Accounting. He was commissioned a 2nd LT in the United States Army and served in the Adjutant General Corp. He joined his brothers in the family business, Gaston Photo Service. While in the photo business he served as President of the Master Photo Dealers and Finishers of Dixie. After Gaston Photo merged with other companies Don sold his shares and started a career building homes in the Atlanta Metro area for over 25 years. He ended his work career with the Georgia Department of Revenue as a tax field representative. Don was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church since 1960. He volunteered for many activities at the church to include the annual BBQ and at the Toco Hills Community Alliance. He adored his children and grandchildren. Coaching little league baseball, spending time at the family cabin in Camp Glisson, and traveling to see family or genealogy sites were among Don's favorite activities. A Memorial Service will be held at Oak Grove United Methodist at 11:00 am Saturday, June 9, 2012, with Reverend Louis Miller and Reverend Mary Lou Gilbert leading the service. There will be a reception in the parlor immediately following the service.
