Donald Evans Martin, 96, of Atlanta Georgia passed away at his home on August 20, 2022.
Don was born on October 8, 1925 to Andrew and Lois Martin in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born in the family home in Grant Park. He attended Tech High, and after graduation, he enlisted and served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. Don attended three of Georgia’s major universities: Georgia Tech, The University of Georgia and Georgia State University. He graduated from UGA with a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design and later from Georgia State University with Bachelor of Visual Arts in Education.
He married Margaret Rose in 1951 and has three children. Don is survived by his wife Rose and their children: Seth Martin, Jonathan Martin and Jennifer Martin and grandchildren: Harrison Martin, Michael Risko, Matthew Risko, Elliot Risko, Emily Martin and three great grandchildren: Tovi Risko, Ezra Risko and Jonah Brezak.
Don was, above all, a curious person. He loved people, art, working with his hands and telling stories to his children and grandchildren. Whether in the studio painting, working on his ceramics, or digging in the garden, he was engaged as a maker. He shared his passions with his family and friends. He will be remembered by all as a kind and soft-spoken man.
Don believed, as William Butler Yeats said, “There are no strangers here; Only friends you haven't yet met.”
