Donald Kirk Moon Passed away on March 25, 2010 after a long battle with physical difficulties resulting from his service in the Desert Storm. He is a beloved son, brother, honorable Marine and man. Donald was born in Lawrenceville, Georgia one of seven children born to Howard Thomas Moon and Frances Virginia Henderson Moon. He grew up in Decatur, and graduated from Shamrock High School where he played football and baseball. Donald participated in boy scouts where he achieved the rank of Eagle and continued on into Explorer scouts. He attended North Georgia College and graduated Georgia State University where he completed his bachelors in Political Science. Don was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He fought in Desert Storm with the 3rd Marines and was honorably discharged from the Marines as a 1st Lieutenant after serving for 11 years. Donald made his home in California where he opened his private investigation office. He has worked in Pasadena area for the past 15 years. He attended the Holy Family Church in South Pasadena. Donald is survived by his fiancée Linda S. Rowland, brother, Michael J. Moon and Thomas D. Moon, sisters Denise L. Plumly and Margaret M. McMahon and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving parents and his brothers Mark Anthony Moon and Ronald Kurt Moon. Donald will be greatly missed by family and friends. A memorial mass will be held at 12:30 P.M. Saturday, April 10, 2010 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Monsignor Paul Fogarty officiating. Inurnment will be at Gwinnett Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
