Donna Peterson Nash, 86, of Camilla, formerly of Decatur, Ga., died on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Camilla Retirement Home. The funeral service will be held at Clairmont Presbyterian Church on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 11:00AM with Rev. Ron Hieber officiating, followed by visitation/reception at the church's Milligan Hall. Born and raised in Staples, MN, on July 13, 1925, Donna taught high school business courses and was a legal secretary for many years. She and her husband of 59 years, Baxter M. Nash lived most of their married lives in Decatur. They were members of St Bartholomew's Episcopal Church then for many years' active members of Clairmont Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the hand bell choir and an active member of the Progressive Sunday School class. Donna was a past president of the Greater-Atlanta Chapter United Ostomy Association. Her compassion led her to counsel others with similar experiences through this organization. Her family called her a "Proverbs 31 woman:" someone who cared for her family and others around her by living out her faith serving her Lord. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine Gilman. In addition to her husband, Baxter, she is survived by her daughter, Becky Yager and husband Rad of Camilla; her son, Buddy Nash and his wife, Barbara, of Huntersville, NC; a sister, Joni Melby Hvidsten and husband Ralph of Mesa, AZ; three brothers and their wives, John and LaDonna Peterson of Motley, MN, Jim and Joan Peterson of North Mankato MN, and Bob and Darla Peterson of Staples, MN; five grandchildren, Clint Yager, KimYager Boyer, Annie Cook, Naomi Nash and Nathaniel Nash; and eight great-grandchildren.
