Doris Caudell Comer, 80, a longtime resident of Decatur, died Friday, September 25, 2009. Mrs. Comer was a longtime member of Columbia Drive Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and is currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Tucker. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, John R. Comer, Sr.; daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Stuart Popwell of Auburn, AL; son and daughter-in-law, John R. Comer, Jr. and Cathy Comer of Lilburn; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 sisters; 2 brothers; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 30th at 11 a.m. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons, Rev. Phill Nall officiating. Interment Historic Decatur Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Bethany House Hospice in Auburn, AL, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Friends are invited to visit with the family Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at A. S. Turner & Sons, 404-292-1551.
