Doris Ellen Cheek Nash, 87, of Decatur, GA passed away February 5, 2017. Mrs. Nash was a lifelong resident of DeKalb county and a lifelong member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. She graduated from Druid Hills High School, and married Charles Donald Nash, Sr. in 1947. She worked with her husband in the construction business and was a homemaker. She was kind, gracious, generous, courteous, and as devoted to her family as they are to her.
Doris is survived by her son, Charles "Don" Nash, Jr. and his wife, Laura Braschler Nash; her granddaughter, Karen Nash Dillard and her husband, Chad Dillard; her great grandchildren: Phoebe, Etta Jane and Nash Dillard; sister and brother-in-law, Eloise and Claude A. Pounds; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents, Ina Estelle Akin Cheek and James Lee Cheek; her brother, Homer Lee Cheek; her sisters, Mrs. Robert A. Kirkland (Ruby) and Mrs. Max Jolley (Sara).
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 9, at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 1722 Oak Grove Road, Decatur, GA, with interment to follow.
