Doris Emily Gober

On Friday, November 9, 2012, Doris Emily Gober went to be with the Lord. She was born November 11, 1932, to Rev. Nelson B. Jenkins and Mary Viola Nicholson Jenkins, of Stone Mountain. She was a graduate of Stone Mountain High School, Class of 1952. Mrs. Gober was a member of Valley Brook Baptist Church. In the early years, Doris worked for Atlanta Dairies, where she was personnel manager. As the children came along, she became a homemaker, devoting her life to her family. Doris was a loving, spirit-filled wife and mother, and will be loved and missed forever. In 1983. she was preceded in death by her loving husband, DeKalb County Fire Department Battalion Chief Jackie Russell Gober, and is survived by her daughters, Kathy Gober Hayes and Karen Gober Bowman; sons, Keith Russell Gober and his fiancé, Tina Evans, and Kenneth Nelson Gober and his partner, Will Graham; sister, Lillian Hickman; several in-laws, nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Monday, November 12, in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons with Rev Brian Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 3-7 Sunday afternoon at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
