On Tuesday, December 10, 2019, our beloved Doris Jean Bussey Williams passed away.
Educated in the City of Decatur School System, Doris was a graduate of the Trinity High School Class of 1963. After high school, she attended and graduated with the Morris Brown College Class of 1967. Music was her life. She had a special talent in musical theory, which led to her desire for singing in church, high school and throughout her college career. Doris was a star alto in the award-winning Morris Brown College Choir. The mutual interest of music is what connected her to the love of her life, Ronald Williams. Through faithfulness and endurance, Ronald proved his love and loyalty to Doris and she gracefully accepted what became a lifelong relationship.
Doris spent her professional years as an elementary school teacher for the Henry County School System and the City of Decatur School System. She was truly a lady of many talents and was highly skilled in sewing drapery and designing gift baskets. Her other interests included cooking, baking and entertaining. She had a nurturing heart, and while she had no kids of her own, she provided leadership, guidance and love to her siblings, nieces, nephews and many others throughout the community. Doris was so proud of all her nieces and nephews as if they were her own.
Doris was preceded in death by the love of her life Ronald Williams, her parents James Rudolph & Florrie Mae Davis Bussey, siblings James L. Bussey, and Glenn R. Bussey. Doris is survived by siblings Kenneth Donald Bussey & Bernice Harris, Constance Bussey Hunt, Marilyn Bussey Harvey, Timothy & Marion Bussey, and Ether & Barbara Bussey Williams, brother & sister in-law Tony Williams and Vickie Williams Gibson and a host of relatives & friends.
Thank you all so much for your prayers, cards, flowers, phone calls, text messages, kind thoughts, and understanding.
With Love Always,
Kenny & Bernice, Constance, Marilyn, Timothy & Marion, and Ether & Barbara
