Mrs. Doris Joyner Jones, 85, of Stone Mountain, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009. Mrs. Jones was a member of Annistown Road Baptist Church, and the Henry Whiteheads Sunday School class. An important part of her life was her personal Christian Card Ministry. She sent cards of sympathy, condolences for other losses, get well, birthday and encouragement to family, friends, as well as, strangers. In later years she worked in a card shop and loved the relationships she built with her customers. She was an avid cook, known for her legendary macaroni and cheese and banana pudding. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Roger M. Jones, Sr. She is survived by her sons, Roger and Caryn Jones of Covington, Tim and Vicki Jones of Lawrenceville; seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009 in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Rev. James Crutchfield officiating. Interment, Historic Decatur City Cemetery.
