Dorothy Francis Medlin

Dorothy Francis Medlin, 91, of Doraville, beloved mother, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017. Born July 26, 1926, in Scottdale, GA, she was the daughter of the late Carl Hezekiah Harris and Lois Jemima Robinson. Francis was the oldest of six children. After working many different jobs from a window dresser at Grants to an in house mail carrier at Sears, headstrong and always wanting more challenging job opportunities, she was very proud to have been the first woman to be hired by Avon where she worked her way up to the position of a data processor and retired in the early '90s. While working at Avon, she acquired the nickname "Blondie" that she held throughout her life. Francis loved to bowl, was a member of the Canasta Club, and enjoyed playing bingo, the lottery, and spending time with her friends and family.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Lynn Medlin and her partner, Pat; sister, Joyce Ford and her husband, Jimmy; brother, Carl "Cecil" Harris and his wife, Doris; and many more loving family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her sisters, Geneva Haney and her husband, Raiford, Rachel Fritz and her husband, Gene, and Virginia Tomlin and her husband, James.

A celebration of Francis' life will be held at the Church of the New Covenant at a later date.
