Dorothy Maddox

Dorothy “Dot” Stephens Maddox, age 104, died Monday, March 15, 2021, at the retirement center in Atlanta where she lived.
Dot was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, William L. “WL” Maddox, who died in 2012. She is survived by her son, Bill Maddox (Charlotte) of Mexico Beach, FL, daughter, Cathy Mullins of Atlanta, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many caring friends.
Dot met WL when they both worked at Southern Bell prior to World War ll, and she later worked for many years as a school secretary at several different schools in Macon, LaGrange, and Columbus. She will be remembered for her spunky determination and independence well after the age of 100.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, March 22, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Macon Memorial Park, 3969 Mercer University Dr, Macon, GA 31204. Face masks and proper distancing requested, please. A celebration of Dot’s life will be held in Atlanta at a future date for friends there.
