Dorothy was born September 4, 1933 in Atlanta, Georgia and died April 15, 2022 after a short-lived illness. She was 88.
She loved her husband of 42 years, her family, family gatherings, people and animals, cooking and crafting. Her true passion she found in quilting. Mostly she loved the Lord and sharing His love with those around her.
She was always helping where she could. Her dream was to be a nurse but that dream was only fulfilled by her relentless care of family members as she would sit by the bedside of any that were ill and care for any in need. Her home was always an open door to family and friends. She would also volunteer often at the local food bank.
She never met a stranger and gave the most genuine, loving hugs.
Dorothy was truly loved by her family and friends. This day she has joined many of them in heaven, including her husband, Thomas W. Lewis; her father, Fred W. White; her mother, Margaret Andrews Edwards; and her brother, Fred W. White, Jr. She will be sorely missed by her five daughters: Melinda Lewis, Patty Hood and her husband, Denise Sanjurjo, Diane Lewis, and Terri Bristol; her 7 grandchildren; her 19 great-grandchildren, other family members, and a host of friends she met along her life’s journey.
The family asks that donations be made in Dorothy’s honor to the American Cancer or Alzheimer’s Association.
