Dorothy Fay Patterson Nix, age 96, died peacefully at her Decatur Georgia residence on March 15, 2016. She was born in Marietta, Ohio and received her degree in Journalism from Ohio University. She was employed as a reporter and feature story writer for The Marietta Times, The Parkersburg News, The Atlanta Journal Constitution and The Dekalb New Era. She was also editor of The Garden Gateways magazine for Garden Clubs of Georgia and Director of The Dekalb Historical Society. In World War II she served in The Women's Army Corps as a reported and met her future husband of almost 60 years, Franklin Wells Nix who pasted away in 2004. Also preceded in death are her brothers Donald and Robert Patterson of Marietta, Ohio. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Mildred and George Cady of Reno, Ohio and several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews in Ohio. Her daughter Kathryn Nix, three sons and daughters-in-law, Franklin R. and Gayle Nix, William R. and Dot Nix and James J. and Pamela Nix, all residents of the Atlanta area. Grandsons surviving are Ross, Justin, Charles, David and Alexander Nix and great granddaughter Daley Lillian Nix. The family will receive friends Friday, March 18 from 6 to 8 PM at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home, 2773 N. Decatur Road, Decatur, Georgia 30030, 404-292-1551. A private burial service will be held on Saturday, March 19.
