Dorothy Roessler Lockhart, age 92, of Decatur, Georgia, died Thursday, March 29, 2007. She was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and received her Masters Degree from Emory University. She also studied at Oglethorpe University and George Washington University. She was a longtime educator with the DeKalb County School System, a teacher with Glenwood and Forest Hills Elementary Schools and Avondale High School and a writer and publisher with the District's Department of Communications. She was named Star Teacher, DeKalb Teacher of the Year, and Freedoms Foundation Honor Teacher. She was a member of Decatur Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School for 50 years. Her beloved husband Malcolm Mabry Lockhart preceded her in death. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law - Betty Anglin of Newport News, VA, Bonnie and Bob Matthews of Decatur, GA, and Mary and Dan McKinney of Anderson, SC; eight grandchildren, Malcolm Anglin, Nancy Deel, Jennifer Kreh, Mary Helen Oliver, Ed Matthews, Frank Matthews, Scott McKinney, and Erin Hinson; and fourteen great grandchildren, James Brown, Matthew and Tyler Kreh, Jake and Christopher Oliver, Nora Matthews, Joshua, Micah, Aaron, and Elisabeth Matthews, Morgan and Alec McKinney, and Poppy and Charlie Hinson. There will be a graveside service for family at 1:30 PM, April 1st at the Decatur Cemetery followed by a Memorial Service at Decatur Presbyterian Church at 2:30 PM. Friends may greet the family afterwards at a reception in the Church parlor from 3:30 to 4:30 PM. The family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials by made to Decatur Presbyterian Church or a scholarship fund to be designated at a later time. A. S. Turner & Sons
