Dorothy (Dot) S. Richardson of Decatur passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 6, 2010. Dorothy was born in Griffin, GA in 1931 and moved to Atlanta in 1945. She graduated from Bass High School and attended Georgia State University. She moved to Decatur with her family and lived there until four months ago when she moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She was retired from the State of Georgia Law Department and enjoyed her home and neighbors in Decatur. Dorothy was of the Methodist faith and was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rosa Smith. Survivors include her two sons, John B. (Jay) Richardson IV of Duluth, Scott Richardson of Ft. Lauderdale; sisters, Jane (and Jim) Hill, Lakeland FL, and Dale Gamble, Cumming; nephews, James Hill, Jr., Michael Hill, Barry Hill, David Gamble and three great-nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 12 Noon in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons, Decatur GA. Interment will immediately follow the service at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12 Noon Tuesday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
