Dorothy Stevenson Allain

Dorothy Stevenson Allain, a resident of Avondale Estates, passed away Friday April 8, 2005. Miss Allain was born March 20, 1928 in New Orleans. She was a graduate of Agnes Scott College. Miss Allain was retired from the Centers for Disease Control, where she was a parasitologist. In 1979, she received the Public Health Service Superior Service Award from President Jimmy Carter. Labs in Costa Rica, India, South and Central America benefited from her services. After her retirement, she continued research and service at Parasitic Disease Control in Tucker. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Octave Allain and Helen Stirling Allain. She is survived by her brother, George Octave Allain III of Avondale Estates; sisters, Lilie Wooten of Stone Mountain and Charlotte Von Hollen of Chattanooga; nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home in Decatur. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 P.M. that same day. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dorothy's memory to the CDC foundation. A. S. Turner & Sons
