Dorothy  Watson Wade

March 4, 1929 — November 16, 2007

Mrs. Wade of Wesley Woods, Atlanta, passed away November 16, 2007 of acute respiratory illness.  Many thanks to Northside Hospital staff for their excellent care. Dot, born March 4, 1929 in Johnston County, North Carolina, was the daughter of Addie Lee Davis and Carl Andrew Watson.  She graduated from Micro High School in Micro, North Carolina, and from Georgia State University with bachelors and master's degrees in education.  Mrs. Wade loved the Methodist Church.  She was a member of Decatur First United Methodist Church.  Mrs. Wade demonstrated fortitude and regard for equality.  She had a love of music, literature, gardening and home improvement projects.  She had a beautiful singing voice. Mrs. Wade retired from the Georgia Department of Labor in 1994. Most recently, Dorothy enjoyed competitive board games with her Wesley Woods buddies, Margaret, Ronnie and Vivian. She was the wife of Henry Ormond Wade from Morehead City, North Carolina.  He predeceased her in 1980.  During their marriage, the couple lived in Goldsboro, North Carolina; Washington, D.C.; Jacksonville, Florida, and Stone Mountain. She was predeceased by her sister, Marjorie Aycock and her brother Charlie Watson. She is survived by her three daughters and their families are: Libby Wade and Roy Neves of Fort Gaines, Georgia, Liza Neves and David Clifton of Avondale Estates, Davis Neves of Los Angeles, Sarah Wade and Sal Sangrigoli, Helen Strickland of Alpharetta; and Lee Wade and Shane Hunter, Gabriel Wade Hunter of McDonough. She is also survived by her two brothers, Ronald Watson, Steve Watson and her sister Betty Jean Jones. A graveside service will be held Sunday, November 18th at the Historic Oxford City Cemetery, Oxford, GA at 3:00  p.m. with Dr. David Naglee officiating. A memorial service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Allen Memorial Methodist Church, 803 Whatcoat St., Oxford, GA (770) 786-7414.
