Mrs. Dorothy Young McLendon, 88, of Snellville, formerly of Decatur, died Monday, June 1, 2009. She was born February 25, 1921 in Shady Grove, Alabama to the late Martin C. Young and Mary French Young. Mrs. McLendon was raised in Montgomery, Alabama and graduated in 1939 from Lanier High School. She retired from Chamber & Associates in Decatur where she worked as an accountant for 33 years. Mrs. McLendon was a long time member of Belvedere United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde F. McLendon and son, Randy W. McLendon. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Derrill and Lynn McLendon of Snellville; granddaughters, Lindsey McLendon and Anna McLendon, also of Snellville; sister-in-law, Elsie Young of Montgomery, AL; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2009. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at A. S. Turner & Sons.
