Doyle H. Payne, Jr.

Mr. Doyle H. Payne, Jr. of Canton died Tuesday, May 10, 2005.  He was born on January 20, 1921 to Doyle H. Payne, Sr. and Ollie Barden Payne.  Mr. Payne graduated from Druid Hills High School and Emory University. He was formerly a personnel director for Delta Air Lines in the Caribbean area.  Mr. Payne was a member of the National Rifle Association and the John Birch Society working closely with Larry MacDonald as campaign chairman for his election to congress. He was also a member of the Lester Maddox Election Committee.  Mr. Payne is survived by his nieces, Patricia Vanderslice Frary of Omaha, NE, Lisa Vanderslice Hall; nephews, Edward Vanderslice and Rod Vanderslice; aunts, Esther Howard of Atlanta, Miriam Goodwin of Westmoreland, TN; and several cousins.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 14th at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons, Rev. Keith Jenkins will officiate.  Interment Decatur Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
