Dr. B. Donald Minor, beloved husband and father, passed away on Friday January 6, 2017. Born in Atlanta, GA, he was the son of the late George Byron and Maude Butler Minor. Don attended Boy's High of Atlanta and was in the first graduating class of Grady High. He graduated from Emory University and Emory University School of Medicine, and completed his internship at Grady Memorial Hospital. After serving as a Captain in the United States Air Force and Chief of the Department of Radiology at an SAC hospital in Madrid, Spain, Dr. Minor returned to Atlanta to complete residencies at Grady Memorial Hospital. He was one of the founding partners of Radiology Associates of DeKalb where he practiced for 40 years at DeKalb Medical Center. Don truly enjoyed everyone with whom he worked and the relationships that he developed at Radiology Associates of DeKalb and DeKalb Medical Center. He enjoyed the sense of purpose and the commitment to doing things in the most professional manner possible.
While his career and home were in Atlanta, he chose to explore, learn, and visit as much of the world as possible. His trips were not just about the places, but more about the history, experiences, and people that made the places interesting to him. His time and friends in Spain were a big part of who he was, just like the group of families in Atlanta that shared Christmas every year for over five decades. Dr. Minor was a member of Haygood Methodist Church until joining Oak Grove United Methodist Church, where he was a member for over 40 years.
He is survived by the love of his life, Pat Shore Minor, who was his constant companion. He is also survived by his son, Mark; daughter, Cathy Ewing; son-in-law, Kelly; and grandchildren, John and Anna. Don Minor was a lifelong learner and teacher who always held himself and those around him to a very high standard. Those who took the time to know him are better off for the experience.
