Dr. Harold Deaton Zwald

Dr. Harold Deaton Zwald, age 90, of Decatur, GA passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 20 16. He is survived by his wife, June, daughter Kathy and wife Charlotte of Tuscon, AZ; John and Debra of Flowery Branch, GA; James and Fiona of Atlanta, GA and Timothy of Duluth, GA Grandchildren. Devon, Lama, Tara, Sara and Sofia. One brother, Dr. Robert Zwald and Lillian; Stepdaughter, Ruth Ann Wimmer and Chuck of Scottsdale, AR. Dr. Zwald was born, December 16, 1925 in Port Orange. FL, son of Simon and Maude Zwald who came through Ellis Island from Switzerland. He served as a Naval Electronics Mate in WWII in the 1940's. Graduate of
Tech High School, Emory University, and Texas Southwestern Seminary. He did extensive Doctoral studies at Emory and Columbia Seminary, and
a Doctoral degree by Mercer University in 1971. His fifty- year Pastoral Ministry includes the Cumming First Baptist Church, Atlanta West Manor Baptist Church, and the Decatur First Baptist Church. After 23 years he retired from the Atlanta Druid Hills Baptist Church in 1991 and was honored as Pastor Emeritus. He served as President in 2010, and Chaplain for 19
years at the Druid Hills Civitan Club in Atlanta. Memorial services be November 5th at First Baptist Church of Decatur, 308 Clairemont Ave. Decatur, 30030 , at 2:00P. M. Family receive friends in the Parlor from lPM to 1:45pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Decatur, Building Fund.
