God called home one of His loyal and devout believers on Wednesday June 21, 2017. Dr. Larry Turner Ball passed away peacefully after battling Parkinson’s disease for 20 years.
Dr. Ball was born on November 22, 1930 in Kaw Missouri. His family moved to Atlanta when Larry was a little boy. Larry graduated from Brown High School and Emory School of Medicine where he graduated 7th in his class. Larry was a veteran of the Korean War, then went on to practice medicine for 45 years at DeKalb Medical Center. He loved being a doctor and felt that all his patients were family and treated each one as such. He was a doctor from the old school because when he retired at 75 he was still making house calls.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Ball and his sister, Wanda Ball Winn. He is survived by his wife Kay, his son Larry Jr., his brother Myron, his three stepdaughters, Kathy Sansbury, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Carver (Deborah) and Beth Batelaan, his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ashcraft and brother-in-law Mike Ashcraft, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 2:00 PM at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, GA 30033. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson’s Association or to Chelsey Park Health and Rehabilitation, 200 Mountain Park Drive, Dahlonega, GA 30533.
