Dr. Peter N. Bougas, Sr. began his journey to heaven on August 16, 2005 at 4:00 a.m. A Savannah, Georgia native, Pete was born February 24, 1935 to Nick Peter Bougas and his wife Kathryne. He was raised in Savannah and graduated from Porter Military Academy in South Carolina. Pete was an excellent athlete and excelled at everything that he tried at Porter. He attended the University of Georgia and later graduated from Emory University Dental School in 1962. He served his country in the Army as a dentist at Fort Ord, California for 2 years and later came back to Atlanta to open his own practice at Shamrock Plaza in DeKalb County, where he practiced for 27 years. Pete donated his time to the Methodist Children's Home for dental service for over 15 years. His wife, Mary of Savannah; daughter, Cathy of Atlanta; sons, Pete Jr. and Angelo, both of Atlanta; grandchildren, Kristin, Mary Alex Harfoot and Nicholas, Emily and Anna Bougas of Atlanta survive him. His commitment to his family left no bounds. Pete, Jr. became an Orthodontist, Cathy became an X-Ray Technician and Angelo obtained a BBA in Finance. Pete loved to travel and take his grandchildren on annual summer vacations. Pete was the best father, husband and grandfather anyone could ask for and was a very unique person with a sense of humor that always kept people laughing. His gentle and kind spirit will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. The family will receive friends and relatives at A. S. Turner and Sons on August 17 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. church services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on August 18 at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of The Annunciation located on Clairmont Road. Burial will be in Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, GA A. S. Turner & Sons
