Ramón Gutiérrez Gamoneda, 95, died Saturday, September 20, 2008. Dr. Gamoneda was born in Havana, Cuba where he became a partner in the accounting firm of Salas y Gutiérrez Gamoneda and a professor at the University of Havana. Fleeing the Castro regime, Dr. Gamoneda emigrated to the United States settling temporarily in New York City, then permanently in Atlanta, in 1962, as a professor of Industrial Management at Georgia Tech. He delighted in his work at Georgia Tech until his retirement in 1980, and was honored with the title of Professor Emeritus. Dr. Gamoneda will always be remembered for his caring, gentle ways and his passion for his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of seventy-one years, Mercedes; his children and their spouses, Arturo Gutiérrez (Margarita), Dr. Ralph Alexander (Kathy) and Marta Gutiérrez Lane (Steve). Fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren will also miss “Papi”/ “Lito”/ “Ito”. Funeral services will be held Monday at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of A. S.
