Dr. Robert F. Eaves, Jr.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family of Dr. Robert F. Eaves, Jr. announces his passing on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2019, at the age of 95. Dr. Eaves will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 77 years, Virginia, his children Suzanne and Bob, his grandchildren Priscilla, Mandy, and Bobby, and his seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Stephen Eaves.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia on May 14th, 1923 to Robert and Etta Eaves, Dr. Eaves earned his medical degree at Emory University before serving his country in the U.S. Navy, Army, and Marine Corps as a medical doctor. He became a Major in the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 27 - an incredibly honorable title, especially at such a young age. After his impressive military career Dr. Eaves started his own private medical practice. He delivered babies, was on-call at Dekalb General Hospital, was the sports doctor for the teams at Tucker High School, made countless house calls, and was a doctor for nursing homes and several major corporations. He was very much loved and respected by everyone in the community. Dr. Eaves practiced medicine for over 35 years before retiring.

Once retired, Dr. Eaves learned to speak Spanish fluently as he enjoyed spending lots of time at his secondary home in Mexico. Always a fan of photography, he finally had more time to further perfect his hobby. He had a love for exploring, and he and his wife Virginia spent several years traveling and spending time with their loving family.

Dr. Robert F. Eaves, Jr. was the patriarch of his family, and he will be remembered as an intelligent, patient, humble, gentle, generous, selfless, kind, incredible man. He was an accomplished, successful, and honorable person, and he will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Visitation will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 12th, 2019, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 pm at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home at 2773 North Decatur Rd, Decatur, GA, 30033.
