Dr. T. Govindaraj

Dr. T. Govindaraj, Associate Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech, passed away December 7, 2007. Calling himself "a former farm boy cruising along the Information Superhypeway", Professor Govindaraj was passionate about his research and was always on the forefront of computing and systems engineering. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Aeronautical Engineering at IIT Madras, his MS in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT and his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He was on the Georgia Tech faculty for 25 years engaged in teaching and research in the area of Human Machine Systems, focusing on "real-world" problems of high levels of complexity. Professor Govindaraj was 58 years old and is survived by his wife Renuka, daughter Thendral, his mother, two sisters and two brothers.
