Catherine Joiner Van Hall, age 89, of Decatur, GA passed away peacefully on Monday, July 19, 2010 following an extended illness. Mrs. Van Hall was born October 1, 1920 in Statesboro, GA, the daughter of the late John and Nellie Joiner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvord John Van Hall and her brother Harold Joiner. Survivors include her son, Ronald A. Van Hall, Moreland, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Tim Buffkin and her grandchildren, Hampton and Ivy of Buford, GA; brother, Jesse Frank Joiner and wife Jean of Flowery Branch, GA, Sidney Joiner and wife Marilyn of Cumming, GA; sister, Gloria Joiner of Decatur, GA; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Van Hall was a member of the Dahlonega First United Methodist Church and a retiree of the Georgia Power Co. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Morningside Presbyterian Church, 1411 North Morningside Dr., NE, Atlanta, GA 30306 with Rev. Mary M. Brueggemann officiating.
