Mrs. Edith M. “Donnie” Archer, 83, of Decatur, GA, formerly of Tuckerton, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4, 2009. Mrs. Archer was preceded in death by her husband, Henry J. Archer, Jr. of Tuckerton. She was treasured in life and will be greatly missed by her three children, Peggy Ferguson of Warrenton, VA, Ginny Archer-Nawrocki of Decatur and Bill Archer of Clayton, NC; and grandchildren, Jessica Rockx of Fredricksburg, VA, Erinn Frowen of Manassas, VA, Steven Nawrocki of Atlanta, Katy Archer of Wrightsville Beach, NC, Cari, Niki and Billy Archer of Clayton, NC, and numerous great grandchildren and cousins. She attended business school and served in the Navy during World War II. She then met her beloved husband, Henry “Hank” Archer on a cruise and married in 1947. Mrs. Archer was a homemaker and devoted mother, living her early married years in Chatham, NJ, and then retired to a life on the water with her husband in Tuckerton. She enjoyed the beach, boating, and fishing, gardening, and she was an avid animal lover. She is also remembered for keeping in touch with old friends and her interest in sports. She settled in Decatur in 1995. A memorial service will celebrate her life at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Decatur, on Saturday, April 4th at 10:30 a.m. Visitation with the family will be at 10 a.m. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to your local humane society, SPCA, or Odyssey House in Decatur, GA.
