Edna Laine Perry Hayes, most recently of Decatur, GA, passed away Friday Sept 7, 2012 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born February 18, 1926 to Minne Lee and Bowling Blake Perry in Loganville, GA. She grew up in Abbeville, SC, worked in Charleston SC, Baltimore MD and was a teletypist for the US government and later worked at Fort McPherson, GA. She was married for over thirty years to James Earl Hayes, active in church as a Sunday School teacher, PTA and school volunteer and raised her family to love the Lord. She last attended Clairmont Hills Baptist Church in Decatur, was the epitome of a homemaker with a strong work ethic, excellent gardening, cooking and sewing skills. Her quick wit, impish sense of humor and creative mind was dearly loved by all and she will be greatly missed. Edna is survived by four children, Barbara Hayes Whitlow of Pine Lake, GA, Sandra Hayes Storer of Peoria, IL, Jimmy Earl Hayes of Lawrenceville, GA, and Anita Hayes Waters (John) of Warner Robins, GA; three grandchildren: Ben Whitlow (Holly) of Lilburn GA, Becca Whitlow Hales (Shawn) of Decatur, GA and Edna Elizabeth Storer Dean (Keith) of Peoria, IL and great-granddaughter Molly Whitlow, of Lilburn; twin great- grandsons Grayson and Peyton Hales of Decatur and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be conducted by Rev. Ed Lycette on Sunday Sept 9, 2012 at 4:30 pm at A S Turner and Sons, Decatur. Family will receive visitors at 3:00 pm prior to service.
