Josie Odom

Josie E. Odom, 90 of Decatur, passed away on February 7, 2025. She was born in Fitzgerald, GA to Charles and Lovie Elliott, one of 6 girls. She moved to Atlanta in 1954, where she started working for Southern Bell. She was married to Dennis Dodge Odom for over 50 years before his death in 2014. Josie retired in 1984 and then volunteered for DeKalb Medical Auxiliary for another 35 years. She was an active member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and later Avondale Estates Church (now Gospel Hope Church). She loved to read, travel (she and Dennis visited all 50 states) and spend time with her grandchildren.

Josie is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Brett) Bebout; grandchildren, Christopher Bebout and Katy Bebout; great-granddaughter, Palmer Bebout; sisters-in-law, Janie Randall and Lassie Titshaw; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 3 PM in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2 - 3 PM and burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
