Edward Lee George, Sr., 85, of Stone Mountain passed away on May 3, 2021. He was born to the late O.L. and Fannie George on January 20, 1936.. Edward was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Norma Jean, to whom he was married to for 51 years; his daughter, Shirley Jean Rusk; Son, Edward Lee George Jr., and his brothers, Joe and Freddie George.
Edward served in the United States Army from which he was honorably discharged in 1958. Following his service, Edward went on to become a firefighter for the City of Decatur for 30 years. Edward was a life long member of the North Clarendon Baptist Church and was an active volunteer with the Jack Ballard Church Builders.
Outside of his service to others, Edward loved his friends and family dearly. He would love to gather around a table of good food and fellowship with those he loved most, everyone. If he wasn’t at that table, you could find him enjoying time outside fishing and watching his hometown Braves play baseball.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He will always be missed.
